Senior School

The Senior School program focuses on elements within the Quality Education framework and the recognised areas of intellectual quality and significance for students in Years 5 and 6. The program identifies and individualises learning in English & Mathematics for students, providing both support for learning needs and enhancement of the curriculum.

Stage 3 students not only engage in the curriculum but have the opportunity to target their individual learning needs. All-encompassing the focus on the readiness for high school including; the identification of goals, organisational skills including the regular use and referral to diaries and timetables, as well as supporting students’ sense of self direction and self-regulation and connecting to the significance of their school work.

Each student in Year 5 and 6 will be assigned a Home Class with a designated teacher. All subjects other than English and Mathematics will be taught in ‘Home Class’. Students are placed in fluid English and Mathematics groups according to academic ability and needs. These groups are known as ‘Senior School’. Stage 3 teachers and support staff are responsible for the delivery of teaching and learning experiences for each of their groups.
