High potential and gifted education
At South Coogee Public School, we celebrate and nurture the full spectrum of student potential. Our dedicated High Potential and Gifted Education (HPGE) program is designed to ignite curiosity, inspire creativity, and support exceptional learners to thrive.
Through small-group enrichment, accelerated learning opportunities, flexible grouping, and real-world problem-solving tasks, our HPGE initiative empowers students to engage deeply, think critically, and lead with confidence. We believe every student can excel when challenged and supported, so we set high expectations and provide rich, personalised learning experiences that allow every learner to shine.
What sets SCPS apart:
- Early identification of learner strengths and interests to tailor pathways and extension opportunities.
- Enrichment across curriculum domains - literacy, numeracy, STEM, and the creative arts - stimulating students in the areas they love and lead from.
- A culture of challenge, collaboration and continuous improvement, encouraging students to ask, “What can I do next?” and take the next step with confidence.
- Strong partnerships, specialist teachers and flexible learning groups that support students academically, socially and emotionally.
- A wide range of school-based opportunities, including Debating, STEM and Coding Clubs, Academic Competitions, Creative Arts Clubs, Music Ensembles, Sports Teams, and Student Leadership (SRC).
- Participation in wellbeing programs and whole-school inclusion initiatives that foster resilience, empathy and belonging.
Join us at South Coogee, where our warm, caring community supports every child to reach their best — including those whose aspirations soar further. Because when potential is recognised and nurtured, extraordinary things can happen.
