Our principal and staff

Our school team is committed to every student’s learning, wellbeing and sense of belonging. We work together to create a supportive and inclusive school where every child is set up for success.

Welcome from our principal

“Welcome All

South Coogee Public School provides a nurturing and welcoming environment for students from diverse cultural and socio-economic communities, accommodating 15 classes. Our school community includes 27% of learners from language backgrounds other than English, 9% from Australian Defence Force families (supported by a part-time Defence School Mentor), and 7% who identify as Indigenous Australians.

We celebrate and nurture the full spectrum of learner potential. We value and recognise the diversity of our learners and their individual needs, striving to empower every child to achieve their personal best through engaging and challenging learning experiences. Our dedicated learning programs including High Potential and Gifted Education and numerous specific Learning Support programs, ensures that all learners are supported and extended to reach their fullest potential. We provide an innovative and stimulating learning environment where learning intentions and success criteria are shared with all children from Kindergarten to Year 6, helping them take ownership of their learning and progress.

At South Coogee, we foster independence and creativity, respect and understanding, responsibility and confidence. We aim to develop resilient and optimistic learners who have a thirst for knowledge and the skills to navigate life-long learning successfully. Every staff member is dedicated to the care and education of each child, working collaboratively to ensure every learner has access to a high-quality and enriching education.

We confidently nurture and create a welcoming environment that enables a stimulating and supportive learning culture while developing tolerance and respect within our community. We are a school that focuses on positivity and the strength that comes from a diverse, inclusive, and respected community working together to achieve shared goals. As a result, we are fortunate to have an active parent body led by our Parents and Citizens Association (P&C) group. Our volunteers are a wonderful support who work with our dedicated and caring staff in providing high-quality teaching and learning programs for all children.

We encourage you to make the most of your time here - get involved, stay in touch, and support the school in every way you can. By doing so, you will become part of a wonderful and connected school community.

On behalf of our school community, I welcome you and hope the following information will help you and your child on their learning journey. We look forward to a long and happy association with your family.”

Ms Trish Fisher, Principal of South Coogee Public School
